Lennox Island First Nation Chief Mary Bernard Women's ShelterJob Opportunity General Description: The Chief Bernard Memorial Women?s Shelter provides safe living for women and children fleeing abuse. The shelter provides a comfortable place to stay, food and other essentials, assistance in daily living, as well as advocacy and support. We are currently looking to hire: 1) A Full-Time Shelter Staff Person for a one-year term 2) A Full-Time Shelter Staff Person for a five-month term (November 2016-March 2017)3) Casual/Relief Shelter Staff Responsibilities: * Identifies social, economic, recreational, and educational services in the community that will meet the clients. needs.* Maintains liaison with other agencies, professionals, and Administration in the community.* Recognize potential emergency situations, analyzes situations accurately, and uses sound judgment at all times. * Maintain written and/or verbal reports regarding clients. daily activities and progress. Ensure that all required documentation is complete, and accurate.* Ensuring the physical needs of food, shelter, and safety are provided for women and children.* On-going case management for all clients.* Respond effectively to all requests for admission, assessing the service needs to those seeking assistance; referring to other agencies as required, as well as arranging intake procedures. Qualifications: * A University Degree in the area of Social Sciences or College Diploma in (preferably Human Services (Community Living Worker II))* Experience in working with Adults who may potentially exhibit multiple challenges in daily living.* Excellent written and oral communication skills.
